The Gloucester County Planning Commission forwarded a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors last week, an amendment to the county’s sign ordinance to allow certain businesses to erect off-premise signs. The county would allow non-residential entities to install in commercial and industrial areas one sign no larger than 32 square feet along Route 17 and two smaller signs posting directions off the highway. Members of the Gloucester Planning Commission were disappointed no residents showed up at Thursday night’s meeting to speak in the public hearing. The proposed sign ordinance amendment will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for approval later this year.
